From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
